Job Overview
Communication and liaise with students, lecturers and management to make sure all students’ academic progress and lecturers’ teachings develop effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching
- Teach at least 18-21 credit hours per week
- Achieve a minimum average score of 80% for all end-of-semester evaluations for courses taught
- Ensure optimal panning and delivery of quality teaching service, including but not limited to:
- Timely class scheduling with minimal last-minute class re-scheduling and communications to students (max. 2 classes per course)
- Annual review and updates in teaching, learning, and assessment materials/strategies/methods/tools to ensure relevance in content and programme level
- Accuracy and fairness in marking and grading of student assessments to ensure valid representation of actual performance
- Coordinate with the Timetable Master for tutorial sessions/lab sessions for students
- Perform cross–teaching with other programmes if services are needed
- Ensure final projects to demonstrate enhanced student experience, engagement and participation; also, relevant to fulfilling Psychomotor & affective Learning Outcome Domain Examination
- Formulate exam questions according to the standard set by the College
- Prepare a “table of specifications” for examination questions
- Moderate questions papers prepared by lecturers before submission to Exam Department
- Ensure examination question papers, answer scheme and assessment marks are accurate, adhere to the stipulated format and are submitted by the given deadline.
Teaching Administration
- Monitor students’ academic progress
- Conduct a mentor-mentee system to ensure attrition of mentees from college does not exceed 7.5% of the total mentee group size.
- Ensure daily/weekly student attendance is updated to the Student Management System, and any missing students are identified and reported within 5 working days of student absence.
- Check students’ excuse form and assist in student affairs matters (discipline and attitude)
- Check and sign students’ logbooks achievement each semester after placement
- Ensure all teaching file documentations are complete as per the checklist (end-of-semester submission) every semester.
Programme Administration
- Be a member of the curriculum development committee
- Conduct curriculum and programme evaluations on a continual basis using continuous process improvement techniques
- Execute activities related to accreditation (MQA, ISO, etc.)
- Be a member of the Subject Specialist Group (SSG)
- Maintain a neat, well-organised, and safe work environment
- Assist Programme Coordinator where needed
- Monitor students’ involvement with extracurricular programs
- Ensure that additional administrative, taskforce, committee and other responsibilities entrusted by management is carried out efficiently.
- Engage with industry partners in the form of curriculum improvement, seminars, career talks, study tours, professional bodies or academic partners, etc., each semester/year.
Skills and Experiences
- Has a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy/Pharmacology
- Possess a valid Annual Practising Certificate
- At least 1 year of teaching experience in a Diploma programme
- At least 1 year of working experience as a registered pharmacist/pharmacologist
- Good command of English and Malay
