Job Overview
The Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, learning, and academic support in accordance with institutional standards and regulatory requirements. The role includes curriculum development, student supervision, assessment, research support, and participation in academic and administrative activities. The Lecturer is also expected to contribute to programme development and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with the university’s strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, review, update, prepare and implement high quality lesson plans, tutorials, assignments, and class discussions in compliance with the syllabus and curriculum.
- Conduct and deliver quality lectures, tutorials, discussions, workshops, consultancy, and other means of learning facilitation professionally and effectively to students.
- Contribute to the development of new academic programmes and to provide ideas, suggestions, proposals, and recommendations to further improve the overall operations, management, and profitability of the institution.
- Supervise students and be responsible for students’ academic progress.
- Consistently monitor and provide feedback to students on their performance and to provide academic counselling to students.
- Involved in general academic administration of the faculty whenever required.
- To fulfil administrative and supervisory roles associated with teaching, research, and innovation.
- Involve in the development of examination papers and other assessments according to the course learning outcomes, invigilate examinations and evaluate students’ performance.
- To assist in the communication and administrative matters in accordance with the policies and regulatory requirements of the university and regulatory requirements by ruling authorities such as the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE) and the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA);
- Involve in marketing activities such as education fairs, open days and other marketing drives; and
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and/or consultancy, where applicable.
- Contribute to innovation in teaching, learning, and curriculum development.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the Faculty or University Management.
Skills and Experiences
- A Bachelor’s degree in English, TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language), or a closely related field from a recognised institution.
- Minimum 3–5 years of teaching experience in higher education or relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver engaging and effective teaching.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, colleagues, and stakeholders.
