Lecturer (Biochemistry) – Faculty of Medicine
Job Overview
This job is responsible for teaching and learning process for academic programmes within the respective faculty/centre. This includes designing, developing and delivering courses in accordance to the programme curriculum and evaluating the effectiveness of teaching and learning through structured assessments. The job is also expected to contribute to the enhancement and development of CUCMS research capability by maintaining an active research portfolio in their own field of expertise.
This includes undertaking own or collaborative research projects and supervising postgraduate research projects.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Establishment
- Design and develop courses offered by the faculty/centre in accordance with the approved programme curriculum/syllabus.
- Periodically review modules and programmes offered by faculty/centre to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and professional body requirements.
- Continuously review and update modules and curriculum to include international/globalised contents, latest body of knowledge and relevant transferable skills.
Teaching & Learning
- Plan and deliver teaching modules as scheduled through the use of a wide range of learning resources and appropriate teaching and learning practices.
- Continuously enhance teaching and learning approach and practices by adopting innovative and effective teaching and learning methodology.
- Prepare and conduct student assessments as required by the course/programme design, including the preparation of assessment tools and marking/grading of the assessment.
Student Development
- Provide academic advisory/counselling to students in own area of academic/professional expertise.
- Supervise and/or coordinate student engagement initiatives/activities that promote positive student learning experience.
- Coordinate and/or supervise programmes that would increase students’ employment experiences and work placement opportunities.
Research & Development
- Conduct individual research projects and/or participate in collaborative research projects relevant to own area of expertise, including presenting or publishing the research findings.
- Serve as research supervisor and examiner for postgraduate research projects in accordance with relevant postgraduate programme guidelines.
Professional Development
- Engage in lifelong learning activities to fulfil the regulatory and professional requirements for Continuous Professional Education/ Development.
- Provide professional consultancy/advisory services in own area of expertise to maintain practice capability in area of expertise.
Administration
- Execute administrative tasks and other reasonable duties as determined and assigned by the Dean of Faculty including:
- Coordinate programme, courses and activities within the faculty/centre.
- Participate in building relationships, collaboration and partnership with industry, agency, and other institutions.
- Participate in seeking research grants to support research activities within the faculty.

- Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience in related field and programme level.
