Dean (AMU – Faculty of Business, Management & Accounting)
Job Overview
The Dean of Faculty is a senior-level administrator responsible for providing leadership and fostering excellence in teaching, research and professional activities within the Faculty and the university. This- position will assume responsibility for planning, setting and communicating the academic and operational vision, strategies and goals of the Faculty and achieving them in accordance with the University’s strategic plan and governance framework. The Dean will position the Faculty’s education and research activities to have a strong impact nationally and regionally. The Dean also enables the values of the University in relation to its people and culture and provides a safe working environment for its staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide academic leadership for the development and implementation of the Faculty’s strategic and operational plans.
- Develop and implement policies and initiatives to enhance academic excellence and student success. Lead in the recruitment and retainment of Faculty members.
- Actively promote education innovation and excellence and set research directions and targets. Oversee the development and review of academic programs and curriculum and ensure alignment with accreditation standards and industry trends
- Provide strategic leadership for the Faculty’s accreditation activities
- Facilitate a collaborative work environment among Faculty members
- Enhance student experience and support services
- Address academic and non-academic issues affecting students
- Develop and manage the Faculty’s budget, allocating resources effectively
- Lead the Faculty in its engagement with external stakeholders, including industry partners and alumni.
- Lead in the promotion of Faculty’s reputation and programs
- Oversee administrative functions, including admissions, registration, and student service

- A research doctorate in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrated accomplishments in education leadership and innovation including business development.
- An outstanding reputation for research, ncluding publications, grants and research student supervision.
- High-level collaborative leadership skills to create a culture of high performance and collegiality.
- High-level skills in strategic planning, decision-making, quality management, change management, financial sustainability and staff management.
- Outstanding communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders
- Track record of a wide network of established relationships with key academic, industry and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders that can be leveraged to enhance the standing of the Faculty and University
