Job Overview

The Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching, conducting impactful research, and contributing to academic and industry engagement initiatives within the school. The successful candidate will support curriculum development, supervise student learning and projects, and contribute to the growth and strategic development of the school and university through research, collaboration, and knowledge exchange activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop research opportunities in Biomedical Engineering aligned with the school’s strategy.
  • Engage in industry-focused research projects and knowledge exchange activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and advancement of Biomedical Engineering.
  • Teach subjects relevant to Biomedical Engineering and support student mentoring/tutoring.
  • Contribute to the management and development of the school and occasionally participate in university-wide initiatives.
Research Contributions
  • Conduct impactful research of national or international quality.
  • Publish outputs of internationally recognized excellence.
  • Build an externally funded portfolio of research and knowledge exchange activities.
  • Disseminate findings at national and international conferences.
  • Support and mentor early-career researchers, fostering an inclusive research environment.
Teaching Contributions
  • Deliver teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, ensuring strong student progression and feedback.
  • Innovate in teaching practices and support new programme development.
  • Enhance student employability through practical and industry-linked activities.
  • Provide high-quality supervision and education, resulting in strong student satisfaction.

Skills and Experiences

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
  • PhD/Master’s in Biomedical Engineering (or near completion).
  • Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).
  • OR: Minimum 5 years of industrial experience in Biomedical Engineering.
  • Experience in teaching undergraduate students.
  • Experience in research and/or teaching programmes.
