Job Overview

The University of Cyberjaya is seeking to establish a Centre for Learning and Teaching in order to further develop the quality of its educational programmes. UoC is seeking a Director of Teaching and Learning to lead and establish the new Centre. The person appointed is a visionary leader responsible for advancing the quality of teaching and learning at the University of Cyberjaya. This role involves overseeing the Teaching and Learning Centre, fostering innovation in pedagogy, integrating educational technologies, encouraging educational research, and ensuring that the university’s programs meet the highest standards of excellence –beyond the standards expected by Quality Assurance bodies.  

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the strategic vision and goals for the Teaching and Learning Centre.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance teaching quality, student engagement, and learning outcomes.
  • Stay abreast of global trends in higher education and integrate best practices.

2. Pedagogical Innovation

  • Promote innovative teaching methodologies, including active learning, blended learning, and the use of emerging technologies.
  • Drive the development and implementation of the university’s spiral curriculum for soft skills.
  • Support faculty in designing, delivering, and assessing student centered learning experiences.

3. Faculty Development

  • Oversee the implementation of a Certificate or Diploma in Higher Education.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of faculty training programs, workshops, and seminars.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify professional development needs.
  • Build a culture of continuous improvement in teaching practices.

4. Technology Integration

  • Partner with LMS specialists and IT professionals to ensure effective use of the Learning Management System.
  • Advocate for the adoption of educational technologies, such as VR/AR, simulations, and analytics tools.
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusivity in the use of technology across all programs.
  • Oversee the implementation of Generative AI in all programmed.

5. Operational  Management

  • Supervise and mentor the Teaching and Learning Centre staff, including educationalists, LMS specialists, and IT professionals.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and logistics to support the Centre’s activities.
  • Ensure alignment of the Centre’s initiatives with the university’s strategic priorities.

6. Learning Quality Assurance

  • Develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching practices and faculty development programs.
  • Use data analytics to monitor and enhance student learning outcomes.

Skills and Experiences

Education:

  • A doctoral degree in education, instructional design, curriculum development, or a related field is preferred. A master’s degree with significant relevant experience may be considered.

 

Experience:

  • At least 8-10 years of experience in higher education, with a strong track record in teaching, curriculum development, and academic leadership.
  • Proven expertise in faculty development, educational innovation, and technology integration.
