Job Overview
The Senior Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching, contributing to curriculum development, conducting research, and engaging in clinical training (where applicable) in support of the MBBS programme. This role requires a balance of teaching, research, and service responsibilities to ensure the academic excellence and professional development of future medical doctors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Teaching & Learning
- Deliver lectures, tutorials, lab sessions, and clinical bedside teaching to MBBS students.
- Participate in the design, development, and revision of MBBS course materials and syllabi.
- Facilitate small-group discussions, problem-based learning (PBL), and clinical skills sessions.
- Contribute to student assessments, including MCQs, OSCEs, case presentations, and logbooks.
- Supervise student research projects and provide academic advising and mentoring.
2. Research & Scholarship
- Conduct research in relevant fields of medicine or medical education.
- Publish findings in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
- Apply for internal or external research grants.
- Participate in faculty or interdisciplinary research initiatives.
3. Clinical Teaching & Service (if applicable)
- Supervise students in hospital or clinical settings during clerkships or clinical postings.
- Participate in ward rounds, outpatient clinics, or surgical procedures for teaching purposes.
- Emphasise professionalism, ethics, and patient safety in clinical education.
4. Academic Administration
- Serve as course/module coordinator or member of academic/disciplinary committees.
- Contribute to faculty development, programme review, and quality assurance processes (e.g., MOA/MMMC compliance).
- Assist in organising academic events, workshops, and community health programmes.
Skills and Experiences
Required Qualifications
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent)
- At least 5-7 years of teaching and clinical/research experience in an academic institution.
- A strong track record of publications and scholarly activities.
- Experience in curriculum development and academic administration.
- Registered and in good standing with the National Medical Council (if clinical).
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
