Job Overview
To oversee and direct the comprehensive operations of the ODL Centre and APEL Centre in accordance with the guidelines set forth by the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) and the internal policies of the University. The Head of the ODL and APEL Centre will be responsible for the execution and oversight of the ODL programmes and APEL assessments. Additionally, the Head of ODL will provide training, either through MQA training or in-house sessions, to all the staff members involved.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the development, review, monitoring and implementation of open distance and e-learning policies, plans, strategies, systems and programmes including budgets.
- Coordinate the development and dissemination of study materials on academic ODL priogrammes.
- Publish and disseminate any material of relevance to the general conduct of Open, Distance and e-learning programmes.
- Monitor and enforce implementation of open distance and e-learning standards.
- Promote and allocate resources for open distance and e-learning standards.
- Establish and uphold both internal and external connections to facilitate the development and successful execution of ODL programmes.
- Ensure that LMS platform is configured correctly and integrated seamlessly.
- Assist students in getting through the process of the LMS platform.
- Continuous monitoring of Self-Instructional Material (SIM) development.
- Provide learners with clear, consistent, accurate and written guidelines on APEL. A assessment procedures, communicate APEL.A and APEL. C expectations clearly and provide a supportive environment.
- Responsible for appointing the advisor, assessor, and moderator for APEL.A and APEL. C assessment.
- Explain the post-assessment process for unsuccessful candidates.
- Responsible for developing and reviewing (with assistance from AMU academicians) the APEL A assessment questions (Bahasa Melayu, English, Maths, General Knowledge/Critical Thinking) every 3 years.
- Ensuring that all application forms are well kept in the system.
- Liaise with the MQA officer when required.
Skills and Experiences
- Master’s Degree or above (PhD is preferred)
- Minimum three (3) years of academic and administrative experience.
- Knowledge of MQA COPPA and COPPA ODL documentation is of utmost importance.
- Understanding of the APEL process.
- Able to lead and possess strong communication skills.
