Key Responsibilities
Duties of Senior Lecturer, Paediatric of UOC include the following:
Teaching & Academic Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in paediatric medicine.
- Supervise and assess medical students, interns, and postgraduate trainees in paediatric clinical settings.
- Design and update course curricula in line with medical education standards.
- Utilize innovative teaching methods, including case-based learning, simulations, and e-learning tools.
- Participate in curriculum development and academic program reviews.
Clinical & Research Responsibilities:
- Engage in clinical teaching at affiliated hospitals and healthcare facilities.
- Supervise students during ward rounds, outpatient clinics, and emergency paediatric care.
- Conduct research in paediatric medicine and contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
- Seek research funding and collaborate on interdisciplinary projects.
- Guide students in research projects, dissertations, and case studies.
- Administrative & Professional Development:
- Contribute to faculty committees, academic planning, and institutional policies.
- Participate in faculty development programs, workshops, and medical conferences.
- Maintain active membership in professional paediatric associations.
- Mentor and advise students on academic and career development.
Skills and Experiences
- Candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree or Diploma in related field with a minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience. Having a Post Basic is an added advantage;
- Have a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC);
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills;
- Able to work effectively and efficiently as a team member as well as independently;
- Able to communicate effectively and work with the management and other staff;
- Possess own transport to be able to commute to students’ clinical area.
