Job Overview
The Human Resources and People Business Partner (HRPB) serves as a strategic partner to the university’s leadership and departments, ensuring the alignment of human resources strategies with the university’s goals. The HRPB will be responsible for driving employee engagement, performance management and overall HR service delivery within the university’s academic and non-academic staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic HR Partnering:
- Provide HR expertise and advice to leadership and department heads in shaping HR strategies and policies.
- Drive workforce planning and organisational development initiatives that align with the university’s objectives.
- Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Promote a positive working environment by addressing employee concerns and ensuring compliance with policies.
- Lead initiatives to improve staff engagement and satisfaction.
- Provide counselling and guidance on conflict resolution, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
- Performance Management:
- Work with departments to manage employee performance and development.
- Assist in setting and reviewing performance goals and objectives for staff.
- HR Policies and Compliance:
- Provide expert guidance on employment law, grievances, misconduct, and workplace investigations.
- Conduct Domestic Inquiry (DI) proceedings, including issuing show-cause letters, appointing panel members, and ensuring due process.
- Handle disciplinary cases, including misconduct, performance issues, and grievances, ensuring fairness and legal compliance.
- Liaise with relevant authorities (e.g., Industrial Relations Department, Labor Office) on employment disputes and legal matters.
- HR Analytics and Reporting:
- Provide data-driven insights and reports on HR metrics, including turnover, employee satisfaction, and other relevant KPIs.
- Use HR metrics to recommend improvements and make informed decisions.
Skills and Experiences
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in an HR Business Partner role or similar capacity, preferably in a university or academic institution.
- In-depth knowledge of Malaysian labour laws and HR best practices.
- Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, and organisational development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
