Job Overview
The University of Cyberjaya (University) is seeking a highly collaborative, forward-thinking, and enthusiastic leader to serve as its next Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy. This senior administrative position will play a pivotal role in advancing academic excellence, research initiatives, and collaborative efforts within the University’s Pharmacy programs. In leading the Faculty of Pharmacy’s next phase of growth and development, the Dean will, in collaboration with the senior leadership of the University, provide strategic vision and operational leadership to all aspects of the academic and scholarly programs. This includes setting priorities for enhancing scholarship, promoting research and outreach, and providing excellence in undergraduate, graduate, and professional education. In supporting the University’s research endeavours, the Dean will also be an enthusiastic collaborator and will advance the scholarly activities of the Faculty of Pharmacy, including solidifying partnerships for interdisciplinary opportunities.
The Dean will possess an in-depth understanding of the current challenges in the field of pharmacy, as well as national and global healthcare. He/she will work towards addressing these challenges by working with a wide range of stakeholders and by forging relationships for future partnerships and innovation. The Dean will also enhance the visibility and impact of the Faculty of Pharmacy’s research work while increasing research funding and revenue. The Dean will be expected to work effectively with faculty, students, pharmacy practice leaders, and industry representatives as partners to advance the University’s research, teaching, and service endeavours.
This position reports to the Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive.
Key Responsibilities
Academic Leadership:
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction for all Faculty of Pharmacy initiatives and programs to strengthen reputation across clinical and teaching excellence.
- Foster a culture of academic excellence, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration among faculty and students within and outside the University.
- Oversee curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation processes to ensure program quality and compliance with industry standards.
- Lead the effort to obtain and maintain accreditation from appropriate agencies.
- Support faculty and staff development, mentoring, and promotion to enhance teaching effectiveness and scholarly productivity.
- Ensure educational programs at all levels provide a positive learning experience and innovative educational opportunities to facilitate the transition from student to professional.
- Support faculty research and scholarship, facilitating opportunities for grant funding and collaboration.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders to develop a robust clinical-translational research program.
- Enhance the student experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Collaborative Oversight:
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to promote collaborative research projects, grant funding opportunities, and industry partnerships.
- Facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration among the various stakeholders to meet the needs of an evolving higher education landscape and to advance knowledge in the field.
- Work collaboratively with senior leadership on the University’s strategic plan and execute key aspects of the strategic plan related to area of expertise and oversight.
Administrative Management:
- Manage budgetary, personnel, and operational aspects of the Pharmacy programs and initiatives.
- Recruit, hire, and retain qualified faculty and staff to support the University’s mission and strategic priorities.
- Analyse internal processes and make recommendations for process improvement to drive efficiencies and improve execution.
External Engagement
- Foster and maintain partnerships with healthcare organisations, research institutions, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to enhance experiential learning opportunities, research collaborations, and funding support.
- Represent the University at professional conferences, and other external forums to promote the University’s reputation and visibility.
- Collaborate with the senior leadership to explore and develop new initiatives, joint programs, and educational pathways that align with the University’s strategic goals.
- Cultivate community relationships and transformational initiatives that align with the University’s mission
Skills and Experiences
Qualifications / Experience
Candidates must have an earned PhD in Pharmacy or a pharmaceutical science and credentials that merit appointment at the rank of professor within the Faculty of Pharmacy.

- Proven experience in curriculum development, accreditation processes, and program assessment within Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences education.
- Proven record of scholarly achievement, research productivity, and grant funding in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related areas.
- Proven ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, build partnerships, and promote innovation in research and education.
- Senior-level administrative expertise including strong leadership in grant writing, fundraising, and income-generating activities with alumni and other stakeholders.
- The capacity to represent the University to external parties in enhancing visibility and impact.
- A strong commitment to assessing needs, developing initiatives and applying best practices.
- The ability to imagine and explore new possibilities to further advance the Faculty of Pharmacy.
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills.
